"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from

whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and

without regard to any census or enumeration."

Although the Sixteenth Amendment enables the federal government to tax individuals and corporations directly, it does not clarify any limitations. It is wrong to assume it is unlimited in its ability to take 100% of our money. Therefore the same holds true for limiting the amount of money the federal government can tax its citizens.

The remedy to out of control federal spending is to limit the source of funding. I intend to ask the citizens of Colorado to amend the Colorado constitution to limit the amount of federal taxation on our citizens and corporations to 15% maximum. The amendment will include a graduated scale based on income to a maximum of 15% for the highest wage earners and corporations. The citizens of Colorado will decide in a constitutional referendum.

Colorado students should not be scrambling for funds to buy books while congress is bailing out multi-national corporations that have been mis-managed. We will keep our personal wealth close to home to support Colorado services like education, police, fire, nurses and doctors.
